DEFINITION:
A code of conduct is a set of rules outlining the proper practices and behavior for any member within an organization.
All members are accountable for their actions, whether within the 70 Temple Street facility or at an off-campus function sponsored by the Nashua Senior Activity Center (NSAC). All members must respect each other. The Nashua Senior Activity Center respects all opinions and supports the right of free expression without fear of insult or reprisal. As an organization we will honor and value the abilities and contributions of others and promote respect for individuals and group differences. We are committed to develop, administer and advocate policies and procedures that foster consistent treatment for all.
GUIDELINES
- Act ethically
- Be friendly, patient, welcoming and considerate to all
- Respect the uniqueness and intrinsic worth of all
- Treat each other with dignity, courtesy, civility and compassion to make NSAC free of harassment, intimidation and unlawful discrimination
- Ensure an environment of inclusiveness and a commitment to diversity
- Respect another’s property
PROHIBITIVE BEHAVIOR
Includes but not limited to:
- Violent threats or vulgar and indecent language directed against another person
- Discriminatory jokes and language
- Obscene gestures
- Personal insults
- Intimidation
- Unwelcome personal attention
- Repeated harassment of others
- Intentionally verbally, emotionally, or physically making someone feel hurt, afraid or embarrassed, whether in person, behind their back, over the phone or online
- Using NSAC property without permission
- Theft of NSAC property or that belonging to employees, members or volunteers
- Breaching confidentiality
IF A PROBLEM IS PERCEIVED
- Ask the person who is behaving unacceptably to stop. Walk away. Remain calm, don’t fight back. Make them aware of the Code of Conduct Policy. Realize you are not alone, powerless or at fault.
- If the behavior does not stop, report the problem to the Executive Director.
- Include within the report the persons involved, others who saw or heard it happen, where and when it happened, and a description of the unacceptable behavior.
Be assured that all reports are processed confidentially.
CONSEQUENCES
Know and understand that there is a consequence for misconduct, up to and including temporary suspension and/or permanent membership revocation.
DRESS CODE
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the wearing of appropriate clothing while at the Nashua Senior Activity Center or one of its off-campus functions to maintain a respectful environment while ensuring the comfort of all.
Staff, Group Leaders, Volunteers and Members are the most important representation of the Nashua Senior Activity Center and contribute to the image and reputation of this organization in the way they present themselves.
SOME EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE CLOTHING:
Clean t-shirts, polo shirts, modest blouses, casual pants, jeans, modest skirts and dresses.
SOME EXAMPLES OF INAPPROPRIATE CLOTHING:
Unkempt or dirty clothing, clothing with offensive designs, clothing that is too revealing.
DRESS CODE POLICY ENFORCEMENT:
Inappropriate appearance will be addressed on an individual basis by Nashua Senior Activity Center staff or Group Leader. If staff or group leader determines, in the staff’s or group leader’s sole discretion and opinion, that a person’s clothing or appearance is not appropriate as outlined above, staff or group leader may take corrective action and require that person to leave the premises or prohibit entry to a function.
Violations of this policy could lead to permanent non-entry or permanent termination of membership.
